Halls of Montezuma Marine Tribute T-Shirt

"From the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli" is the opening line of the Marines' Hymn, the oldest official song in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Halls of Montezuma refers to the Battle of Chapultepec in September 1847, when U.S. Marines stormed Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City during the Mexican-American War - Marine Corps tradition holds that the blood stripe worn on dress trousers today honors the officers and NCOs who fell in that assault. This shirt ties that legacy to the Corps' founding on 10 November 1775, when the Second Continental Congress raised the first Marine battalions at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia.
